(Honouring someone who has passed away...)
Here are some examples of my work, click on the images

I had made a few pillows for this customer (you can see one of them
here),
but she wanted to also have a quilt made using larger pieces of her mom's clothing to remember her by.
I decided to use the "Turning 20" quilt pattern to make this quilt and then quilted
an all-over design across the top. It turned out to be 48" x 64".

This quilt was a Mother's Day gift from a loving daughter to her mother. The photos
in the quilt are of her mother and her grandmother, who recently passed away.
This lap quilt ended up being 39" x 48" - perfect for keeping her mother warm while
reading or watching TV. You can see the quilting a little better in this
side view photo.

I love this quilt. It took longer than I thought to make it, but I really wanted to
do something special for this lady who came to me with her daughter's clothing and asked
me to make her a quilt. She chose this theme because it would be like her daughter is
still giving them hugs & kisses from Heaven.
Each X and O is made with a part of her clothing. As an added bonus - and something I
just came across absentmindedly while making this quilt - I decided to paper
piece
the name of their daughter on
the back. I also love the way that turned out, too! The
machine embroidered cupcakes on
the front are a representation of her love for cupcakes - and so I
needed a to find a way to incorporate them in here, as well.

Here's a cozy quilt we made using Dad's dress shirts. Can you spot them all?
They are the center square and the square around that one - and again in the scrappy border.
Dad had 2 daughters so we made 2 quilts, but we wanted to make them just slightly different
from each other. So, we made one with a blue border and one with a purple border. The quilting
(done with a variegated thread) in the outside border is also different from each quilt.
Here is the
Flower quilting
that was quilted in the purple border quilt.

This is a very unique quilt we made - and it's one of our favorites because of
the design we chose! This nice sized wall hanging is only 22" x 28". The center photo
uses 4 fabric sheets which we carefully printed, then sewed together to create one
large (12" x 18") photo of this lady's mother and her husband on their Wedding Day.
The 4 photos in the corners are 4" square.
Her dad had passed away and her mom was in a home and so she asked us to make
this very special quilt for her to look at and remind her of the happy days gone by.
Her mom was so happy, we received a personal email directly from her!!

Tammy was the best friend of my sister-in-law. She sadly, and unexpectantly, passed away in November 2007.
All of her friends rallied together and came up with the cost to have this special
Memory Quilt made for her mom and dad, who also miss her dearly.
I have to say, it's one of my favorite quilts
that I have ever made! It's fairly large too, measuring 55" x 66".

Here we use a Twisted Square design with a 5" photo in the middle. I love the way the blues are nice and
crisp looking against the background - it really pronounces each photo! In this 42" x 58" quilt we quilted
a butterfly design surrounding each square and then did a uniform wave in the blue and outside border.
This Twisted Squares pattern has proven to be so popular with us, we made it into a pattern for
re-sale. Check out page 2 of our
Quilts For Sale for more info!

This is a beautiful quilt we made out of silk ties! Our customer asked us to make her 2 quilts to give
to each of her daughters using 20 silk ties from her husband. We made the first quilt using this
Friendship Star pattern (each star is a different tie!) and we quilted it with hearts and swirly's.
The dimensions of this quilt are 45" x 56".

This is the second tie quilt we made using those same 20 ties as in the quilt above. This time we
quilted flower petals in the dark blue squares and did an all over meander stitch in the light blue areas.
The dimensions of this quilt are 43" x 51". Both of these quilts are perfect for cuddling up in while
laying on the couch watching TV!

This is a memorial quilt of my mother, Marion, measuring 31" square. It has 9 photo's, each measuring
4". She passed away of Cancer, so the pink ribbon fabric used was a perfect match for this project!
There are various styles of butterflies quilted all over the mid section of this quilt. Also, her name, birth and angel dates, and loving
messages are quilted into the borders.

This memorial quilt honors Tammy. It measures 33" square and the photos are all 4".
Her name, birth and angel dates, as well as a loving message is
quilted into the border.

Another quilt to honor Kristopher, this one measures 29" square and the photos are each 5".
The contrast in colors of this design make it look almost 3D.

This "Kristopher Quilt" was made for his mom, Lisa, and measures 30" square. It has 16 photos, each measuring
4". The style of this quilt is called Attic Windows and also has a bit of a 3D effect. There is heart quilting done in the outside borders.

This memorial quilt of Kristopher (my step-son) was the one that started everything. It was my first memory quilt
and I gave it to Kris (Kristopher's Dad) that first, lonely Christmas. It measures 47" x 39" and has 20 photos,
each measuring 3" square.
